Bursaries
Whitgift’s bursary scheme is financed by its parent organisation the John Whitgift Foundation: across its three schools it currently gives some form of financial support to 48 per cent of all students, totalling over £5m a year. Offers are means-tested and academically selective, with the Foundation suggesting that a household earning around £19,000 a year gross would qualify for full or near-full fee remission, up to a ceiling of around £93,000. It is worth noting that performance in entrance exams is used to select bursary recipients and that meeting the financial requirements is not a guarantee of being offered one.
Whitgift is also partnered with Royal Springboard, which provides charitable assistance to students who are or have been in the care system, or who come from areas of extremely high social deprivation.
